Beating the Winter Blues

Its that time of year again. The days are getting shorter and our energy seems to be getting lower as the sun shines less and less. To help maintain your energy and a positive attitude throughout the winter months here are some easy and natural tips and tricks:

 

Try and get some sun during the morning from 6 am to 8 am. Try and eat breakfast or have your coffee while sitting at a window or go out for a walk if its not too cold out.

 

During the day keep shades and blinds open to get the best use of the sunlight and try to sit in the sunniest room available.

 

Keep yourself on a regular schedule. Even on days off and weekends, go to bed and wake up at the same time.

 

This is a time when it is important to eat lots of fruits and vegetables, especially raw ones, and make sure you stick to a schedule of regular aerobic exercise. Just 20 minutes a day can make a difference.

 

With the colder months we all know how important vitamin C is but dont forget about vitamin D supplements. Vitamin D is what is found in natural sunlight and we especially need extra when we are all bundled up and our skin cannot access the suns rays. Also dont forget your Vitamin B complex, this vitamin is an important part of maintain your emotions and dealing with stress.

 

With the dark cold winter we often forget how much colour affects our moods. To brighten up your day add a splash of colour with bright and sunny pillows, pictures or just adding fresh flowers to a room.
